TECHNOLOGY
We are dedicated to offering our patients a thorough eye health and vision examination so they can enjoy a lifetime of healthy vision. Below you will find some of the technology available in our office.
Heidelberg Edge Perimeter
The Heidelberg Edge Perimeter (HEP) is an instrument for examining the visual field including peripheral vision. This test is most valuable for the diagnosis and monitoring of glaucoma, in which the loss of peripheral vision is irreversible. The HEP takes just a few minutes per eye.
InflammaDry
InflammaDry is the first and only, rapid result, in-office test that detects elevated levels of MMP-9, an inflammatory marker that is consistently elevated in the tears of patients with dry eye disease. This pain-free test is performed by collecting a small tear sample and results are available in just a few minutes.
MiBo ThermoFlo
The MiBo uses a controlled thermoelectric heat that is applied with ultrasound gel directly to the eyelids for the treatment of dry eye disease. The technician will massage the lids with the MiBo for 8-10 minutes per eye in a very relaxing, spa-like atmosphere. The heat from the MiBo is absorbed deep into the tissue and breaks down the hardened oils in the meibomian glands allowing instant relief. The MiBo is also a great treatment for styes.
Oculus Keratograph 5M
The Oculus Keratograph® 5M is an advanced corneal topographer with a built-in real keratometer and a color camera optimized for external imaging. It is used in the diagnosis and monitoring of dry eye as it collects a large range of data including corneal redness, tear break-up time, and meibomian gland drop-out.
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)
Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive diagnostic instrument used for imaging the retinal layers in high resolution, cross sectional views. The OCT allows us to view and accurately measure structural changes to the retina and optic nerve, especially with glaucoma, age related macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
Optos 200 DX (Optomap)
The Optomap offers a 200 degree view of the retina, and is an important tool for the screening and diagnosis of ocular issues such as retinal detachment, glaucoma, cataracts, and macular degeneration. It can also indicate evidence of non-eye diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and certain cancers.
QuantifEye MPS II (mPOD)
The QuantifEye MPS II is the most reliable and accurate device for measuring Macular Pigment Optical Density (mPOD). The mPOD measurement allows Doctor Peters to assess a key macular degeneration risk factor, low macular pigment, as well as other visual performance challenges. Our office exclusively offers nutraceuticals to aid in the health and restoration of macular pigment.
TearLab Osmolarity System
The TearLab Osmolarity System is intended to measure the osmolarity, or salt content, of tears to aid in the diagnosis of dry eye disease. Dry eye disease occurs due to a lack of production of tears, or the poor quality of tears. As osmolarity in tears increases, ocular surface cells become damaged. This simple test is performed in-office by collecting a small tear sample, and osmolarity results are available immediately.
